Remarks: This Canadian product represents the ‘state of the art’ graphics and desktop publishing program for today’s desktop computers. Following is a tentative outline of the topics that will be addressed by this course.
Day 1: Topics
Overview of Corel Draw:
- Activating Corel Draw, overview of menus, mouse usage
- Tool Bar, creating rectangles, squares, ellipses & circles, lines and figures,
- File Options: Creating New files, Opening an existing file, Save vs Save As options,
- Printing Files: Accessing the Printer Setup, Printing to Printer vs Printing to File;
- Exploring Page Set-Up Options and changing Preferences,
Manipulating Objects
- The Pick Tool: Selecting, copying, moving, sizing, restoring deleting objects,
- Rulers & Guides: Overview of rulers and guides, turning on/off, snap to rulers/ guides,
- Outline & Fill Options: Overview of the Line & Fill Options,
- Moving Front/Back: Moving objects Front, Back, selecting & layering objects, overlaying & grouping objects
- Layers: Send to Front/Back, Creating effects, Grouping Objects, Copying/Moving Objects
Overview of the Text Tool:
- Entering, placing, moving, copying, deleting, & pasting text Exploring the Font/Size/Leading Options
- Changing Text Attributes: Type Specs Types of Text: Artistic text vs paragraph text, distinguishing between the two; When to use the various types
- Manipulating Text Blocks: Selecting, copying, moving, sizing, restoring, deleting text
- Exploring the Window Shade Feature, rolling up text, unrolling text, clip & move text
- Other Text Attributes: Paragraph formats, Alignment, Type Style, & Indent/Tabs,
- Text & Graph Functions: Text flow options, Cropping Text, Layout & Design
- Layout & Design Considerations: Elements of Desktop publishing & design
- Creating Columns: using Columns for effect, changing & moving columns,
Additional Topics:
- Quick Keys: Changing text attributes on the fly using the quick keys, Ctrl-Shift keys,
- Using Color: Manipulating Text with objects using Color and Shades,
- Effects: Creating Envelopes, manipulating, Creating Perspectives, Creating Extrusions, manipulating for effects
- Flow Options: Fit text to path, Align text and objects, Blending text and objects
- Using the Import Feature: Placing Graphics & Text, sizing, copy & paste functions.
- Save Options: Saving as a bit map, importing bit mapped objects, manipulating objects
- Depending on the needs of the participants involved, other topics may be discussed/presented
